Major Fintech Firm Gains Full Crypto-Asset Licence for European Market

European digital bank Revolut has obtained a licence under the Markets in Crypto‑Assets Regulation (MiCA) from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

The licence allows Revolut to provide and market crypto-asset services across all 30 markets of the European Economic Area (EEA).

Revolut currently has more than 65 million users worldwide, and approximately 14 million of them actively trade crypto. The new licence strengthens the firm’s regulatory foundation and enables the launch of next-generation crypto offerings.

What the Licence Enables

With MiCA approval, Revolut will be able to offer services such as crypto trading, staking, and custody through its EU entity.

This regulatory clarity prepares Revolut for expanded operations in the EEA and reinforces its positioning as a regulated hub for digital assets.

The company is preparing to roll out what it calls “Crypto 2.0”, a platform upgrade offering over 280 tokens, zero-fee staking and seamless stablecoin-to-dollar conversions.

Strategic Importance

Securing this licence places Revolut among the first major fintech firms to align fully with Europe’s unified crypto-asset regulation.

It underscores the broader trend of mainstream financial apps incorporating advanced digital-asset features under regulated frameworks.

For users, it means better access to regulated crypto services through an app they already use for banking, payments and wealth management.

For the industry, it marks continued maturation and integration of crypto within regulated financial systems.

Outlook

With its regulated licence in place, Revolut is poised to deepen its crypto offerings across Europe while maintaining compliance with strong consumer-protection standards.

The success of its upgraded platform will depend on adoption of new services, competitive pricing and seamless integration of crypto, banking and payments.

For now, the regulatory milestone marks a key step forward in the convergence of fintech and digital-asset ecosystems.
