Off the Grid game adds Bored Ape NFT content while its GUN token crashes 53% since launch to $0.055.
Gunzilla's battle royale game "Off the Grid" just dropped Bored Ape avatars in what might be the most 2021 move of 2025.
Players can now run around with BAYC-themed skins, weapons, and even do emotes called "Go Apeshit" and "Hump for Dominance" – yes, really.
Meanwhile, their GUN token is bleeding harder than a player caught in the storm, down 53% since launch to a painful $0.055.
Off the Grid's new BAYC content pack lets you cosplay as a bored ape while blasting 149 other players in their dystopian battle royale.
They even launched a limited "Ape-fool Mask" on April 1st that's already becoming the digital equivalent of a Supreme drop.
The crossover makes perfect sense, given how many NFT bros are still desperately trying to justify their $430k JPEG purchases from 2021.
Though if you're still holding a BAYC after those prices crashed, maybe playing a game where you repeatedly die is thematically appropriate.
While Gunzilla celebrates ape season, its GUN token holders are watching a different kind of game—one in which their investment keeps falling through the floor.
The token launched with Binance Launchpool hype at $0.115 before promptly shedding over half its value… ouch, no respawns on that sort of loss.
With just 6% of tokens in circulation, the project has a modest $32 million market cap, but behind that is a fully diluted valuation of $550 million.
That puts it above ApeCoin in theoretical value, which is some serious hopium, considering ApeCoin has actual brand recognition outside of crypto circles.
On a positive note, Off the Grid is actually making moves in the gaming space, with over 500,000 daily active users.
The game supports 150 players per match, offers 60 hours of campaign gameplay, and lets you collect over 300 weapons and cybernetic limbs.
They've managed to attract 14.5 million wallets on Avalanche and have processed 431 million transactions on their testnet, making it one of the most active blockchain games ever made.
It's available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games Store, which puts it miles ahead of the usual "coming soon" vaporware that plagues Web3 gaming.
Web3 director Theodore Agranat keeps saying migrating to mainnet is "priority number one," but nobody's sharing when that's actually happening.
The delay feels a lot like when your friend says they'll "definitely pay you back next week" – you want to believe, but experience suggests otherwise.
Even Yuga Labs CEO Greg Solano is pumping the game on Twitter, which makes sense given they're licensing his monkeys and probably cutting him a fat check.
The elephant in the room is whether mainstream gamers actually want NFTs in their battle royale or if they're just playing despite the blockchain elements.
The BAYC integration feels like two brands hoping their combined star power will overcome the market's overall disinterest in Web3 gaming.
Bored Apes peaked in 2021-2022, and GUN tokens have been falling since birth – it's like watching two people who can't swim trying to save each other.
Meanwhile, traditional gamers are still allergic to anything with "NFT" attached to it, and crypto gamers are more interested in token earnings than actual gameplay.
Off the Grid is stuck in the weird middle ground of being too crypto for gamers and too gaming for crypto degens.
Gunzilla is making a huge bet that Web3 gaming will eventually go mainstream, and they're throwing everything at the wall to make it stick.
The good news is that they have a real game that people actually play, which puts them ahead of 99% of blockchain gaming projects.
The bad news is their token is drilling toward Earth's core while they're adding cosmetics that appeal to a community whose relevance peaked two years ago.
But hey, at least now you can "Hump for Dominance" after scoring a kill – truly the future of gaming we've all been waiting for.
